Lead Quantum Computer Architect

Job Description

Job Title: Lead Quantum Computer Architect. Location: Broomfield, CO or Brooklyn Park, MN (On-site)

Responsibilities:

• Lead a cross-disciplinary team to architect next-generation large-scale quantum computers.
• Design and evaluate candidate quantum system architectures, emphasizing scalability and performance.
• Define system-level and sub-system technology requirements for scalable quantum systems.
• Collaborate with hardware sub-system teams to integrate new technologies such as photonics and ASICs.
• Oversee the development and delivery of top-metal layer ion trap designs for fabrication;
• Present technical strategies and updates to executive and stakeholder groups;
• Implement rigorous scientific methodologies and team practices to ensure cutting-edge outcomes.

Qualifications:

• PhD in physics, quantum information, or a related discipline completed prior to starting.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience (inclusive of PhD) in areas such as ion trapping, spectroscopy, optics, vacuum systems, or photonics.
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, asylum/refugee status);
• Must not be a national of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.

Preferred:

• Leadership experience in the development of quantum devices or systems.
• Deep understanding of laser systems, cryogenics, vacuum systems, and control electronics;
• Experience with quantum error correction codes, simulation, or modeling for experiment guidance.
• Strong communication skills and a history of publication in relevant research fields.
