Manager, Environment and Power

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager, Environment and Power. Location: Bothell, WA

Responsibilities:

• Lead a cross-functional engineering team (mechanical, electrical, and software) focused on the environmental and power infrastructure for IonQ’s quantum computers.
• Oversee the design and delivery of subsystems including:
  • Structural racks, isolation tables, and enclosures
  • HVAC, liquid cooling, vibration, and acoustic isolation
  • Electrical power distribution and monitoring systems
  • Routed interconnect systems (optical, electrical, fluidic)
  • Environmental monitoring and industrial design
• Develop multi-year roadmaps for subsystem development with clear success criteria.
• Collaborate with the architecture, product, and manufacturing teams to ensure scalable, modular designs that are optimized for assembly and deployment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design of electronics enclosures, cooling systems, and rack-mounted infrastructure.
• Experience in managing cross-functional technical teams;
• Proficiency with tools like SolidWorks, ANSYS Fluent/IcePak, or COMSOL;
• Strong background in thermal and structural analysis, cable routing, and mechanical integration.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 15+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years in leadership;
• Familiarity with AC/DC power systems, optical systems, and data center infrastructure;
• Experience designing scalable hardware environments for advanced computing systems.
