Software Engineer - Automation & Calibration

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Staff Software Engineer - Automation & Calibration. Job Location: College Park, Maryland, United States (Hybrid or On-site), Also available in Bothell, WA.

Responsibilities:

• Develop software to automate the behavior of IonQ’s quantum systems, meeting both technical and business objectives.
• Create software to calibrate the systems' physical parameters, ensuring optimal performance.
• Provide technical leadership, building robust and tested software solutions;
• Manage projects, deadlines, and priorities effectively, while identifying and mitigating risks.
• Mentor junior engineers, offering guidance on technical issues;
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, learning from experts outside of traditional software engineering, especially in areas such as physics and electrical engineering.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 13 years of professional programming experience in languages like Python, Go, Rust, or C++;
• Experience with data analysis, statistical methods, and machine learning.
• Preferred:
  • MS or PhD (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Background in digital signal processing or control theory;
  • Experience collaborating with technical experts outside software engineering.

• Compensation:
  • Base salary range: $187,358 - $245,300, based on skills and experience.
