Cryogenic Systems Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Cryogenic Systems Engineer, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, installation, and operational deployment of dilution refrigerator systems for quantum computing applications.
• Define and standardize processes for assembling and maintaining a scalable fleet of cryogenic systems.
• Develop testing strategies for both prototype and production-level cryostat components and systems;
• Collect and analyze telemetry data from the entire cryostat fleet to identify design improvements and operational efficiencies;
• Collaborate with Quantum AI scientists, engineers, and vendors to define and qualify cryostat designs supporting large-scale, error-corrected quantum computing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience with dilution refrigerator design, installation, operation, and maintenance;
• 3 years of experience with prototyping, cryogenic test development, and data analysis;
• Experience managing multi-vendor hardware development projects.

Preferred:

• 5 years of experience working with dilution refrigerators.
• Familiarity with laboratory vacuum systems, gas handling, and electronic equipment.
• Experience with Python, Linux, and SQL;
• Background in analyzing time series data and using statistical tools;
• Demonstrated success managing complex cryogenic hardware development efforts.

Benefits / Instructions:

• Salary range: $147,000–$216,000 (excluding bonus, equity, and benefits).
