NISQ Application Research Scientist

Job Description

Job Title: NISQ Application Research Scientist – Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Design protocols to simulate many-body quantum systems on NISQ and early fault-tolerant quantum devices.
  • Model device noise and develop strategies for error mitigation and early quantum error correction;
  • Collaborate with experimental teams to support quantum algorithm experiments on Google’s hardware;
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific conferences.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least one scientific publication (conference, journal, or public repository);

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience with Python and high-performance scientific computation.
  • Familiarity with Trotter methods and simulations of strongly-correlated quantum systems.
  • Knowledge of error mitigation techniques in NISQ devices;
  • Published research in collaboration with experimental quantum scientists.
