Process Engineer, Test and Packaging

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Process Engineer, Test and Packaging. Location: Fremont, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Sustain wafer/die electrical probing equipment to test the electrical properties of superconducting quantum circuits.
  • Develop and deploy test programs and functions on equipment in a production environment;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to probe equipment and test procedures, including electrostatic damage (ESD).
  • Manage assembly and packaging equipment and processes, including die attach, wire bonding, flip chip attach, wafer singulation, and wafer bonding.
  • Create packaging diagrams and specify tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements to support manufacturing operations and ensure damage-free die handling.
  • Support packaging development activities and collaborate with frontend and backend module teams to improve processes;
  • Establish metrologies, key metrics, and parameters to run predictable and capable processes;
  • Document specifications, processes, and written work instructions for production deployment.
  • Guide technicians and operators in process and equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Organize failure data and provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance yield and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • MS and/or Ph.D. in a Science or Engineering field (highly preferred).
  • 3-7+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor/MEMS e-test, assembly, and packaging tools, such as wafer probers, package probers, wire bonders, die attach, epoxy dispense, and flip-chip assembly;
  • Strong background in semiconductor fabrication processes and electrical measurement instrumentation.
  • Experience with superconducting materials is a plus;
  • Familiarity with packaging layout, thermal, mechanical, and system-level reliability.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams;
  • Comfortable with MS Office, JMP, SolidWorks, Google Docs, and Python scripting for data analysis.

  • Competitive salary range: $138,000 - $162,500 per year, depending on experience.
