Established in Toronto in 2016, the company aims to make their quantum computers affordable and accessible to the public. Their primary resource, PennyLane, allows users to write and test quantum programs on classical computers, alleviating the burden of advanced hardware for students and scientists.  

Unlike traditional computers that use electricity, Xanadu uses photons, or tiny particles of light, in their quantum computers. Photonic quantum computers are more feasible as they operate at room temperature, making scaling easier and more accessible. Strong collaboration with organizations and firms aids their research and development alongside government bodies. These collaborations allow Xanadu to tackle complex challenges within science, artificial intelligence, and finance, leveraging the abundant possibilities within quantum technology.
